Kitchen Extension for Joy in Hove

Transforming a small space into a light airy kitchen diner with utility room and w/c in a Hove terrace.

Joy tells us about the transformation of her kitchen:

What was your initial idea?

My house is a small two-bed Victorian terrace, which had a rather dated kitchen with nowhere to dine. I love to cook and entertain friends and family so I wanted an extension, under permitted development, to open up the space and turn it into a kitchen-diner with a more contemporary feel, without compromising the style of the property.

What was important to you when choosing your contractor?

Having had a very costly bad experience in the past, it was crucial to get the right company for this project. I was looking for nothing less than excellence in all areas! I wanted to find a company with both flair and experience who could translate my ideas into practicalities. A brilliant finish and attention to detail was very important to me because the space is relatively small and anything less than perfect would be obvious.

After my last experience, I needed assurance of reliability and knowing that the project would be completed on time and on budget. It was very important to me that all aspects of the build were delivered to the same high standard; carpentry, electrics, plumbing, plastering etc. 360 Home certainly delivered on that.

I visited many websites and spoke to a few builders including Karl and had every confidence they were the right company for the job. Karl immediately understood what I was looking for and was able to confirm quotes and starting dates for work to commence.

Do you feel that 360 Home helped you to translate your ideas into reality?

Absolutely! In fact although I knew what I wanted to achieve I found it hard at times to visualise the transformation as the work progressed. Karl was very reassuring in that respect; he had a clear idea how the final result would look. I am thrilled with the final project and feel that not only were my ideas well translated by 360 Home but they also added some very stylish touches that brought the project to a new level.

Finally, would you recommend 360 Home to others?

Definitely. I would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending 360.

Are there any other comments you would like to add?

It was a pleasure to have 360 in my home as everybody who worked on the project was very professional, polite and a pleasure to have around. If I ever get the loft converted I will definitely go back to 360.

Karl’s comment:

The end result in Joy’s kitchen/diner was a fantastic use of space, though it didn’t come without its challenges. Trying to maximise the new space, fitting in a small w/c and a utility area whilst trying to keep the new areas spacious involved some clever planning. The whole bottom floor from the front door onwards was opened up, and the light pouring in from the bi-fold doors and the new roof was beautiful.
