Kitchen Extension for Graham and Gill in Brighton

This was a kitchen extension in the Fiveways area of Brighton. We were contacted by Graham and Gill to completely refurbish the kitchen.

Graham and Gill talk us through the project:

What did the project entail?

We knew we wanted to change the kitchen when we moved into the house. The pine units and the layout didn’t really work for us and there was a door that we never used taking up valuable space. We wanted bifold doors to open out into the garden and let in more light, and use this end for eating and socialising. We also wanted to block up the unused door, replace two small windows with one larger central window and run units along the whole length of one wall.

What was important to you when choosing your contractor?

Although we called a couple of building firms, we knew as soon as we met Karl that we wanted 360 Home to do the work for us. The cost of the work was very competitive and Karl is so friendly, personable and professional that we felt straight away we’d be very happy to have him and his team working in the house.

How do you feel 360 Home helped you translate your ideas?

We had a couple of definite ideas about how the kitchen should work and look but there were also a few areas where we wanted Karl’s advice. His experience and expertise was very welcome! He always suggested ideas gently, taking the time to show us examples and explain thoroughly how they might work for us, so we never felt railroaded into anything we didn’t want.

Even the best-laid plans can change and any building project can experience glitches. How do you feel 360 Home dealt with any such issues?

Luckily we didn’t experience any major glitches but we really appreciated being kept fully informed. Karl called, texted or emailed us frequently to keep us up-to-date with progress and which workmen to expect the next day. We always felt totally involved.

Was your family able to live comfortably through the renovation work?

I cannot praise 360 Home highly enough for the care they took to minimise disruption for us. Inevitably there is dust during a project like ours, but the site was always left as tidy as it could be. We were never without water or heat for more than a brief time during the day. Every member of the team who came to our house was friendly, polite and courteous – even answering our children’s endless questions with patience and good humour!

Finally, would you recommend 360 Home to others?

Absolutely. We have been so impressed with 360 Home, from our very first meeting with Karl right through to the completion of the project. If we ever emailed a query to Karl, he responded immediately – brilliantly efficient. The quality of the work is extremely high and we absolute love our new kitchen.

The delivery of our cooker was delayed by the manufacturers, but Karl organised for the electrician and plumber to be here as soon as it arrived to fix it up. Everything seems to work like clockwork at 360 Home – and what more could you ask for? A fantastic company.

Comment from Karl:

We loved working on this project. We were excited to see the completed design because we knew what a fantastic space this would be once finished. The bifold doors allow the kitchen and garden to flow together. It’s warm in winter and will be amazing in the summer!

The kitchen chosen by the Gill and Graham is a Shaker ‘Tewksbury Sky’ style, with rigid carcasses and solid frame oak veneered doors and oak work surface. We were able to help Graham and Gill visualise how the kitchen could work before they bought it with our kitchen planning service, so the end result cleverly maximised the space.
