With a young family, Steve and Emily wanted to create more space by adding a loft conversion and extending their kitchen and dining area.

"I wanted a contractor that was modern, forward thinking and honest and Karl and 360 Home delivered on all these points."

Steve Rowlands

Tell us a little bit about your project?  What was your initial idea?

The idea was to add a fourth bedroom in the loft and additional living space through a rear extension and downstairs toilet. We wanted the house to be low maintenance to ensure it was easy to keep clean whilst also having two young children to look after. Since moving into the house it never really felt like our home, so we really wanted to put our stamp on the place and make it our own.

Which inevitably led you to looking for a building company.  What was important to you when choosing your contractor?

First and foremost, I wanted a company that I felt I could trust. Karl is a great guy and I knew very quickly after meeting him that they were the right company for the job.  I wanted a contractor that was modern, forward thinking and honest and Karl and 360 Home delivered on all these points.

Obviously, when carrying out work on your home, you’ll have very definite ideas about what you want and how the final project will look.  Do you feel that 360 Home helped you to translate your ideas?

I was very particular about how I wanted things and created a CAD design enabling me to share this vision with Karl and the team.  Sometimes though, even with drawings it’s hard to visualise what you want until the foundations are in place, the team really understood this and worked with us to ensure the build met our expectations.

What was the best part of the project for you?

The plastering! As crazy as it sounds, for me that was the point where the build started to take shape and we were able to visualise how it will look. Karl’s trademark window openings also transformed our extension and it wasn’t until they were plastered that we realized how good they looked.  Make sure to ask him about them!

Where do you look for inspiration and ideas?

The inspiration for this project came from hours spent trawling through interior design websites and other sources like Pinterest to get unique ideas that we could add our own personal touch to.

Finally, would you recommend 360 Home to others?

We had neighbors knocking on our door even before the work had finished asking if we’d recommend them and it was always a resounding yes. Since completing ours they have quoted on two of our neighbors and are in the middle of an extension for a third!
